Day +20

Today is Day +20. What this typically means is that the platelets should start engrafting around this time. They say that days +10 to +30 are the toughest. Woke up this morning without having a fever again for another 24 hour period. This allows for a good night’s sleep, well, as well as can be expected in between vitals, medications and blood draws. Platelets: 3 Hemo: 7.4 WBC: .53 ANC: 422 Was transfused again with platelets this am. Since it’s day+20, hoping that platelets start showing up. Extremely fatigued remainder of the day yesterday and all day today. Was able to get out of bed to sit up in the chair for about an hour but that’s only because the doctors expressed how important it was to recovery. Swelling and inflammation still there, but seems to be reducing a bit with the lasix. It has been 4 weeks today since being admitted to the hospital. No appetite, I’m sure it’s a combination of nothing desirable on the menu as well as gut hurts and overall feeling of fullness after barely eating. They have changed the antibiotic from vancomycin to daptomycin, vanco is very hard on the kidneys so they have decided to change it up a bit after measuring the vanco levels every couple of days. The nice thing is that dapto is a push into the picc line vs being connected to IV for several hours.
